Thoughts for Grandparents

Okay, I'm technically one of the crowd. My granddaughter is technically now a little over two days old so I thought that I would go looking for words of wisdom to set me on the right track.. like spoiling her rotten, sending her home with her parents when I have had enough lol, not that I can see that happening EVER!! Now the spoiling her rotten part, I can see happening but I think that it will be a toss up to see who spoils her more... me or her granddad!

Grandparents are there to help the child get into mischief they haven't thought of yet.

Today, I'm going to rummage through a pile of magazines that I have been saving for years and years. Actually, I own magazines from the war years that I found for sale in an old bookstore. I read some of the fiction that was popular in those days and it is like reading about life on another planet. But I have been spending a lot of time researching my family tree so it gave me a lot of in sight into the life of my grandparents during those years! You take soooo much for granted or at least I did!

Thoughts On A Saturday Afternoon

Today, I'm going to rummage through a pile of magazines that I have been saving for years and years. Actually, I own magazines from the war years that I found for sale in an old bookstore. I read some of the fiction that was popular in those days and it is like reading about life on another planet. But I have been spending a lot of time researching my family tree so it gave me a lot of in sight into the life of my grandparents during those years! You take soooo much for granted or at least I did!

We recorded the record on a saturday afternoon March 30th and I heard the record for the first time on April 6th. I was driving to school, literally seven days later.

Summer Quotes for HOT SUMMER DAYS

Rugby - Hillmorton Road. House where Rupert Br...Image via Wikipedia Today is going to be one of those days that you used to love as a kid. The hotter the day, the more you liked it! I picked a few quotes that took be back to the 60s!

Being a child at home alone in the summer is a high-risk occupation. If you call your mother at work thirteen times an hour, she can hurt you.
 Erma Bombeck

My mom was always home during the summer but I'm sure that we drove her nuts anyway lol!

Breathless, we flung us on a windy hill, laughed in the sun, and kissed the lovely grass.
 Rupert Brooke

This brings back memories of our visits to my grandparents house on the highway. There was a great hill and all the cousins would slide down it on sheets of cardboard. Isn't it funny how you can  be bored at home (although I don't recall) but there was almost always something to do at Nanny and Grandpas!

Celebrate Summer - Sun drenched days and starlit nights...
 Gooseberry Patch

*I can remember my dad taking us out on those starlit nights and pointing out constellations to us! It was soooo magical!

Colored scents that fill the air as drowsy insects hum around in the meadow is the place of secret magic where nature alone renews itself.
Kate Bergquist

*The scents of a summer day when you were a child. It still amazes me that those scents must have been the same scents that our ancestors enjoyed when they were children too!

Deep summer is when laziness finds respectability.
 Sam Keen

*Good heavens... not in our house. Our dad didn't believe in laziness at any time!

Dirty hands, iced tea, garden fragrances thick in the air and a blanket of color before me, who could ask for more?
 Bev Adams

*I can remember making mud pies on the swings... so there's the dirty hands part... the Kool-aide (our version of ice tea) and the scents of the garden growing and the flowers blooming... life was good!! Ahh, to be a kid again!

Is There Anything More Special??

The New Baby... than learning that you are going to be a grandmother?? I just saw the first sonograms and the little guy is 13 weekds old! Okay, it could be a girl, but I'm going to call him a little guy until I hear differently... I just have a very strong feeling!!

Life with the Grandparents

Grandparents are there to help the child get into mischief they haven't thought of yet.

And this is so true of my grandparents. Life was always fun when they came for a visit!
