For Those of You Going Gray!!

"I'm in the grow out stage, about 8 month in to the process and I have come so close to coloring it again, but it wasn't until a woman came up to me Walmart and said... "You look fabulous!  I know just what you are going through because I was there myself just a couple of years ago. We are a strong bunch of women she laughed and I just wanted to tell you that I think that you are awesome!"Me

Why Is It So Hard When It Should Be Soooo Simple!

Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

- Groucho Marx

I have read this quote in different words... so many times, but on the days when I am in a mood, trying to convince myself that it's my choice, just doesn't seem to work. I wonder if decorating my work station with a collage of funny photos would do it??  Worth a try!!

It Really Is This Easy

Sometimes I think that we take too many things for granted. It is easy to be happy if we just allow ourselves to be... If Anne can think this way, we should be able to as well!
Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy.
Anne Frank

How to like freezing drizzle!

“We tend to forget that happiness doesn't come as a result of getting something we don't have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have.” Frederick Keonig

We have freezing drizzle right now... I'm having a hard time appreciating it right now.  Maybe I could be happy that I'm warm and cozy inside and Elton John is on the radio????

Some happy quotes for this morning

I never thought that a lot of money or fine clothes... the finer things in life... would make you happy. My concept of happiness is to be filled in a spiritual sense.
Coretta Scott King

For every minute you are angry you lose sixty seconds of happiness.”
 Ralph Waldo Emerson

Our first problem is not to learn, but to unlearn, to clear out some of the old assumptions.
Gloria Steinem

I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.
Groucho Marx

“Cry. Forgive. Learn. Move on. Let your tears water the seeds of your future happiness.”
 Steve Maraboli

Quotes about butterflies

You can chase a butterfly all over the field and never catch it. But if you sit quietly in the grass it will come and sit on your shoulder. Author Unknown

I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly dreaming I am a man."
Chuang Tzu

Butterflies are self propelled flowers.
R.H. Heinlein

I've watched you now a full half-hour;
Self-poised upon that yellow flower
And, little Butterfly!  Indeed
I know not if you sleep or feed.
How motionless! - not frozen seas
More motionless! and then
What joy awaits you, when the breeze
Hath found you out among the trees,
And calls you forth again!
~William Wordsworth

He said that we belonged together because he was born with a flower and I was born with a butterfly and that flowers and butterflies need each other for survival.”

Gemma Malley,

*I  saw a butterfly just yesterday... it seemed that it wasn't quite ready to relinquish its hold on summer yet either!

The best way...

The best way for a person to have happy thoughts is to count his blessings and not his cash.
Unknown

No one grows old by living, only by losing interest in living!
Marie Beynon Ray

I wonder how many times we will have to hear this before it finally sinks in? My "little" brother just celebrated his birthday yesterday and talking to him on the phone and hearing how happy he was is a blessing for me. He hasn't always had the easiest life, but he indeed sounded happy and that made me happy!

Today I Get To Choose

I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.
Groucho Marx

It's funny how something that makes so much sense gets lost on us. I looked out the window today and saw that it was snowing again and my mood plummeted.  But after reading this quote... I'm going to make sure that this one particular day is going to be a good one! It's my choice!

Tuesday

Are you that someone?

It took me a long time to arrive at this idea, but it does make a lot of sense!

Wednesday

Will this make me happy?

Just for today, do things that will simply make you happy. Today is all about you. If you feel like stretching out on the bed just reading for the afternoon, do it. If you feel like going to the mall just for fun... do it.

After you have pampered yourself for the day, consider how it makes you feel. Are you happier than when you started the day??

The Buddha Talks about Happiness

Are you afraid of this happiness? The Buddha

It does make you wonder doesn't it. We want it so badly, but we so seldom ever find it. Could this be the reason??

I was just reading a few days ago that it is already in side of us but we are so busy looking for happiness that we don't look within ourselves. In fact, it's the last place that we look.

Quotes About Being Unhappy With Yourself

Feeling like this is a lot more common than you might think. It comes in different degrees, but most people aren't happy about something about themselves. I was even reading about a child who was unhappy about being a boy. The child was convinced that he had been born in the wrong body. That makes most of our little concerns not quite so serious when you think about what that child has to go through. Anyway, I went to see what I could find on the topic and found these. It helped me and I hope that it will help you feel better about yourself too.

Nobody bores any man as much as an unhappy female. Moss Hart

It isn't what you have, or who you are, or where you are, or what you are doing that makes you happy or unhappy. It is what you think about. Dale Carnegie

None think the great unhappy, but the great. Edward Young

I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it. Groucho Marx

Not being able to work would make me very unhappy. Ian Hart

Not necessity, not desire - no, the love of power is the demon of men. Let them have everything - health, food, a place to live, entertainment - they are and remain unhappy and low-spirited: for the demon waits and waits and will be satisfied. Friedrich Nietzsche

All blame is a waste of time. No matter how much fault you find with another, and regardless of how much you blame him, it will not change you. The only thing blame does is to keep the focus off you when you are looking for external reasons to explain your unhappiness or frustration. You may succeed in making another feel guilty about something by blaming him, but you won't succeed in changing whatever it is about you that is making you unhappy.” Wayne Dyer

Nothing the desert produces expresses it better than the unhappy growth of the tree yuccas.
Mary Austin

When unhappy, one doubts everything; when happy, one doubts nothing.” Joseph Roux

People think it's a terrible tragedy when somebody has Alzheimer's. But in my mother's case, it's different. My mother has been unhappy all her life. For the first time in her life, she's happy.
Amy Tan

When You Are Rich...

Even the rich are hungry for love, for being cared for, for being wanted, for having someone to call their own.
Mother Teresa

The marvelous richness of human experience would lose something of rewarding joy if there were no limitations to overcome. The hilltop hour would not be half so wonderful if there were no dark valleys to traverse.
Helen Keller

Here are two quotes for you to take out onto the porch with you today to give some thought to!

Thoughts About Fear

If you look into your own heart,
and you find nothing wrong there,
what is there to worry about?
What is there to fear?
Confucius

Life is an act of listening. In any given moment, you are either listening to the voice of fear (your ego) or the voice of love (your unconditioned self). Fear always leads to more fear. Learning to switch off the voice of fear is an art.

Robert Holden

*This man makes so much sense. I have read his books a couple of times and always pick up something new!

The biggest hurdle in the way of achievement is fear of failure.
Anurag Prakash Ray

Time To Be A Little Less Serious

Schylling PANIC PETE SQUEEZE TOYTime to put your feet up and let the stresses go. Life is too short to be serious every minute of the day. So, don't put it off any longer, from this minute on, you are going to look at life in a different way. You will be amazed at how your life will change!!

And this little guy will help you remember. When you feel stressed, just give him a little squeeze! Kind of like those stress balls you see in every store at this time of year. This little guy just makes it a little more fun!

Thoughts and a Quote About Feeling Rich

I was reading through the jottings on my Facebook page and one of my friends left this comment...

"If you want to feel rich, just count all of the things you have that money can't buy. on ♥."

Kind of makes you step back and re-think everything you ever thought what you wanted out of life. What does it take to be rich and how do you feel after making a purchase?? Personally, the minute I hand over the credit card, the rush is over. I'm thinking of the next thing that I want to buy. And did you notice, I didn't say... need to buy. So, today, seeing that it is a rainy one, maybe it is the perfect day to make a list of everything you have at the moment that has nothing to do with shopping or accumulating things...

Come to think about it, I think that I have a book on my shelf... sounds familiar doesn't it. I have hundreds of books that I don't think about until something reminds me. I can't remember who wrote it but it was about enjoying the simple things in life.

Did I ever tell you about my love of dandelions?? Most people hate them, but as a little girl, seeing a yard full of dandelions meant that summer had arrived and there was nothing quite as summer on a lake! Ahh, the memories and...

DANDELIONS DON'T COST YOU A PENNY ;)

Thoughts on Being Happy

"If you want to be happy, be." Leo Tolstoy

Almost seems to easy doesn't it. I want to be happy every single day of my life, but there are days when I can make it happen regardless of how hard I try! But according to everything I read, it's my choice... so why on earth am I choosing to feel miserable on any particular day. Definitely going to have to work on this in the coming months. If it is up to me, I want to be happy until the day I die... and apparently it is doable!
