Losing happiness

"For every minute you are angry you lose sixty seconds of happiness.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson

I'm not exactly angry, but I'm not in a good mood either. I think that it's the weather and the fact that Christmas is behind us. I used to get excited about New Years Eve, but I'm usually asleep before it arrives. I think I'm in a rut! Is anyone else feeling this way? Perhaps I should take this quote to heart. I have already lost an entire morning of happiness... I don't want to lose any more.

Most people would rather be certain they’re miserable, than risk being happy.
Robert Anthony

The best way to cheer yourself up is to try to cheer somebody else up.
Mark Twain

Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.
Groucho Marx

Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life.
Omar Khayyam

The best feeling in the world is realizing that you're perfectly happy without the thing you thought you needed

“To be happy, we must not be too concerned with others.”
Albert Camus
“If you want happiness for an hour — take a nap.’
If you want happiness for a day — go fishing.
If you want happiness for a year — inherit a fortune.
If you want happiness for a lifetime — help someone else.”
Chinese Proverb

Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy.
Norman Vincent Peale

Folks are usually about as happy as they make their minds up to be.”
Abraham Lincoln

“Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time.”
Marthe Troly-Curtin
