Scary Halloween Quotes

A woman drew her long black hair out tight
And fiddled whisper music on those strings
And bats with baby faces in the violet light
Whistled, and beat their wings
And crawled head downward down a blackened wall
T.S. Eliot

Hark! Hark to the wind! 'Tis the night, they say,
When all souls come back from the far away -
The dead, forgotten this many a day!
~ Virna Sheard.

Halloween Quotes for a Spooky Night

This used to be my favorite time of the year. There was just something special about going out when it was dark and walking down the streets with my pillow case gathering candy from houses with spooky porches with laughing jack-o-lanterns flickering wildly. I loved it. And then there was the smell of the night!

Those seemingly interminable dark walks between houses, long before street-lit safety became an issue, were more adrenalizing than the mountains of candy filling the sack.  Sadly Halloween, with our good-natured attempts to protect the little ones, from the increasingly dangerous traffic and increasingly sick adults, has become an utter bore.
Lauren Springer

It's Halloween! It's Halloween! The moon is full and bright/And we shall see what can't be seen On any other night. Skeletons and ghosts and ghouls, Grinning goblins fighting duels/Werewolves rising from their tombs, Witches on their magic brooms/In masks and gown we haunt the street/And knock on doors for trick or treat/Tonight we are the king and queen, For oh tonight it's Halloween!
 Jack Prelutsky

By fairy hands their knell is rung;
By forms unseen their dirge is sung.

'Tis now the very witching time of night,
When churchyards yawn and hell itself breathes out
Contagion to this world.
William Shakespeare

Quotes About Jack-o-lanterns

May Jack-o-lanterns burning bright
Of soft and golden hue
Pierce through the future’s veil and show
What fate now holds for you.

On Hallowe'en the thing
you must do
Is pretend that nothing
can frighten you
An' if somethin' scares you
and you want to run
Jus' let on like
it's Hallowe'en fun.

I think that the best part of my Halloweens as a child is walking carefully by the porches that had a leering pumpkin leering at me as I passed.  So spookily delicious!!

The best pumpkin to choose for your Jack-o-lantern this year is one that is not perfect! Lucky for you... those are the ones that are chosen last.

Quotes about Halloween Night

Come with me
All Hallow's night
We'll frighten everyone in sight
Such pranks for ince,
are justified
And fun and frolic amplified.

From ghoulies to ghosties and long-leggety beasties
And things that go bump in the night,
Good Lord, deliver us!

Pixie, kobold, elf, and sprite,
All are on their rounds tonight;
In the wan moon's silver ray,
Thrives their helter-skelter play.
Joel Benton

Funny Halloween Quotes

Is everyone ready for Halloween?? Can't believe that it is coming so quickly!!

A grandmother pretends she doesn't know who you are on Halloween.

Erma Bombeck

I don't know that there are real ghosts and goblins, but there are always more trick-or-treaters than neighborhood kids.

Robert Brault

“Vegetables are a must on a diet. I suggest carrot cake, zucchini bread, and pumpkin pie.”
Jim Davis

On Halloween, the parents sent their kids out looking like me.
Roger Dangerfield

Halloween was confusing. All my life my parents said, “Never take candy from strangers.” And then they dressed me up and said, “Go beg for it.” I didn’t know what to do! I’d knock on people’s doors and go, “Trick or treat.” “No thank you.”
Rita Rudner
