The Days Ahead

But who can tell what miraculous things I may see before this year is out!
Cotton Mather, 1692

Little did she know what her words would bring about. I'm afraid to even utter the words for 2016!

We are afraid to care too much, for fear
that the other person does not care at all.

Scared of What The Day Will Bring

I'm sick of waking up & being scared of what the day will bring.
Unknown

I wonder just how many people wake up feeling just like this?   It's odd the kinds of moods that we find ourselves subjected to.  I'm not feeling quite that bad,  or even close if truth be known... but just enough to feel yucky.  And it came on so suddenly??

Monday

It took me a long time to discover this to be true!

A child becomes an adult when he realizes that he has a right not only to be right but also to be wrong. Thomas Szasz

Tuesday

How hard it used to be...

We are going through a bit of a tough time at the moment,  but it occurred to me that my ancestors have probably known worse. I am a big genealogy buff and I have been studying one particular line in our family. My great grandfather left his family in Lincolnshire, crossed the ocean and settled in Ontario Canada. It's rather sad that none of his brothers joined him, but that is how it turned out. Little did he know that a hundred and fifty years later, he would have  hundreds if not thousands of descendants.

All worked out quite nicely for him and I'm sure that it will for us as well!

The past is not dead. It isn't even past.
William Faulkner, 1897-1962

“Never destroy any aspect of personality, for what you think is the wild branch maybe the heart of the tree.” Mrs. Henry George

Sister to sister we will always be, a couple of nuts off the family tree.

"Family faces are magic mirrors. Looking at people who belong to us, we see the past, present and future. We make discoveries about ourselves."
Gail Lumet Buckley

Love and work are the cornerstones of our
humanness

If I had to do it all again...

If I had to live my life again, I’d make the same mistakes, only sooner.”
Tallulah Bankhead

I don't know... I would like to think that maybe next time around, I would be a little bit smarter?? What do you think??

WE never reflect how pleasant is is to ask for nothing.

Sunday

Are you still searching for happiness??

You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life.
Albert Camus

Life isn't about finding yourself.
Life is about creating yourself.
George Bernard Shaw

A little something for you to think about this evening!

My favorite post of the day

Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

I really like the sound of this quote, but I'm not sure that I'm the sort of person to do that. Thinking about it, I like to slowly follow the path to see where it takes me, but always on the lookout for the rock to come tumbling down the mountain. I wonder what that says about me?

Big Changes... Little Steps

Post-it® Easel Pad, Self-Stick, Tabletop, 20 Inches x 23 Inches, White, 20 Sheets per PadWe all want to see the big changes, but more often than not, we expect those big changes to hurt. Well, from experience, I have found that not to necessarily be true. Over the coming days, I will share 10 big changes that most of us would like to see in our lives and provided examples of how little steps will make them happen.

1. Stop Smoking
Remember, I said that these are little steps and one of the first things that you can do is to find things to do to replace those times when you used to pick up a cigarette. And sorry to say, grabbing a piece of candy is not the answer. Now a carrot is another story. Not only will you be on your way to quitting, you are actually eating something that is good for you. And my trick… each day that I went without a cigarette was a milestone in my mind. There was no way that I was going to risk it all and start smoking again. But it was all of the little steps that helped in the early days. The veggies didn’t hurt my waistline either!! And if I can do it... anyone can. Trust me!!

Thoughts and Quotes About Fear

“Courage is simply the willingness to be afraid and act anyway.”
Dr. Robert Anthony
(That's a tough one)

He who is afraid of asking is ashamed of learning.”
Danish Proverb (I think that a child should be encouraged to ask questions and as many of them as the child sees fit)

“If one dream should fall and break into a thousand pieces, never be afraid to pick one of those pieces up and begin again.”
Flavia Weedn (Oh... I love that idea. Why has that never occurred to me!

"Part of me is afraid to get close to people because I'm afraid that they're going to leave.”
Marilyn Manson (I'm sure that he is only one of thousands of people who feel that way!)
